Mobile Security- Be Safe, Not Sorry
by Eshwar Natarajan in General
With the growing usage of smartphones, almost everybody uses mobile applications, but hardly anyone thinks of security while using them.
An unprotected mobile application poses a real threat as it is on our devices that we store and work on critical data such as payments, banking information, access keys, medical, personal data, etc. And overlooking its security posture is akin to leaving your home unlocked in an unsafe neighbourhood.
Our team recently performed mobile security tests for one of our Client for both Android and iOS platforms.
What did we do?
To scrutinise the Application’s static code vulnerabilities, we conducted Tests using methods such as Software Composition Analysis as well as Open source library usage analysis against vulnerabilities reported on OWASP (Open Web Application Security Project).
We also tested the App for Applications Runtime Manipulation to ensure that the App does not bypass security and logic checks or access privileged parts of an application on both Android and iOS.
Our security experts also performed Fuzz Testing (also called as Fuzzing) of the APIs by attempting to input massive amounts of random data to find security loopholes.
We also attempted reverse engineering of the Apps.
How safe is your App for your users?
Mobile security should be considered early in the design phase of creating any mobile application. As we are all aware, every App you develop is unique and a one size fits all approach will not work. Ensure a safe user experience by identifying vulnerabilities early during the development lifecycle.
We at Nuage offer an in-depth security analysis of your Mobile Applications supported by comprehensive reports along with remedial measures for any issues found.
