Alexa, Get Me The GotUrSixTV Headlines
by Rahul Mishra in General
Most of us now carry a powerful minicomputer in our pockets, people are buying fewer newspapers, and social media is helping us reach new audiences.
But even more recently, a new trend has emerged for accessing news by talking to smart devices that listen to your question and respond with the answer verbally.
That’s why, as part of ongoing work we do, we’ve made the headlines from a news aggregation site for US army vets available for the first time via skills for devices that use Amazon’s Alexa personal assistant.
So, if you have an Alexa-compatible device, you can start using flash briefing skill now for “GotUrSixTV” and go behind the headlines of the personal stories impacting Veterans, Active Duty and Military Spouses of the US Government.
Where is the voice going?
Voice technology, such as Amazon’s Alexa, offers a potential new way for the general public to access news via invocation. And is currently at the forefront of voice technology, recently hitting a milestone of 10,000 skills, or third-party features that are accessible via specialized Alexa voice commands. We at Nuage recently developed voice skills for GotUrSixTV and delivered them with a set of invocations that are available on your Alexa device.
Alexa’s news skill
So if you have an Alexa-compatible device with you, why not check out our skill by saying “Alexa, get me the GotUrSixTV headlines” and hear today’s top headlines that matter to you.
We are really excited to see how people engage with this new skill. And we’ll be looking for feedback and new ways to develop the skill in response to how people use it.
